As an iPRES delegate, not only do you get to experience the content that’s being shared and presented at the conference itself - you also have the option of registering for extracurricular activities in the form of a Professional Visit!
Professional Visits are standard fare at iPRES conferences. They offer in-person attendees the chance to explore more of the host city and to get to know a variety of local institutions behind-the-scenes.
We appreciate all of the Professional Visit expressions of interest that came through in your conference registrations. The data has helped us plan and map out the tours and visits that will take place on Friday 7 November.
This year's professional visit locations include:
Wellington City Archives | Te Kano Kohinga Kupu o Pōneke
National Library of New Zealand | Te Puna Mātauranga o Aotearoa
Archives New Zealand | Te Rua Mahara o te Kāwanatanga
Museum of New Zealand | Te Papa Tongarewa
Ngā Taonga Sound and Vision
and more!
In mid-October, we'll open official sign-ups for Professional Visits and provide full details about offerings. A Google Form will be circulated with all the institutional details, visit times and maximum capacities to help guide your choice. If you register for a Professional Visit that has already reached its cap, you will be notified and placed on a waiting list. The majority of this year’s Professional Visit offerings are within walking distance of Tākina, the conference venue. They are also reachable by the public bus system or via taxi/rideshare.
There are a couple of offerings that are located further out from Wellington City and will require a brief ride on the commuter train or a slightly longer bus journey. We will provide directions and more detail in the registration form.
Based in Wellington and keen to volunteer?
We will have local representatives stationed at each Professional Visit site to meet you. If you are based in Wellington and would like to volunteer as a site representative, please get in touch and we will happily coordinate that with you.
