iPRES 2025 Bake Off Tasting Spoon Challenge: Single-Serving Demos from the Caterers

The iPRES 2025 Digital Preservation Bake Off Tasting Spoon Challenge invites service providers and vendors—our “caterers”—to serve up a small, focused, and delightful demo of a tool, feature, or workflow from their product or service.

Rather than presenting a full product suite or platform overview, this is your chance to highlight a single taste: one capability, one clever integration, or one often-overlooked feature that you think deserves the spotlight.

Let the community sample the flavor of what you bring to the table, without the full-course sales pitch.

Challenge Guidelines

• Your dish:

  • Showcase one specific function or feature of your product or service.

  • Keep it light and self-contained (no setup required for the audience)

  • Frame it with a preservation or curation need in mind—what problem does it solve?

  • Include a 2–3 sentence “menu description” to explain your spoonful

• The ingredients:

  • Focus on usefulness and delight—what’s something users often say “I didn’t know it could do that!” about?

  • Make it fun or memorable: tie it to a theme, use humor, or offer a real-world use case.

  • Show something that can stand alone—helpful automation, visualization, conversion, validation, etc.

• Suggested flavors:

  • A validation feature that catches common user mistakes

  • An export option that simplifies data migration

  • A search enhancement that improves discoverability

  • A drag-and-drop UI workflow that saves time

  • A unique way your tool supports open standards or interoperability

Evaluation

Audience Choice Voting will decide the most compelling tasting spoons—attendees will vote for the most useful, clever, or surprising demos. Think of it as a service provider and vendor fair meets snack-sized showdown. You bring the spoon; the audience brings the tastebuds.

How to Submit

Participants can complete a submission form. Accepted submissions will be featured during a live session at iPRES 2025, where each caterer (service provider or vendor) gets to demo or describe their dish in a brief, timed presentation. Demonstrations must only use files from the iPRES Bake Off Pantry.
