Whether you're new to iPRES or a seasoned attendee, our mentoring programme is a great way to connect, share expertise, exchange ideas and build new networks across the digital preservation community. Open to all attendees, the program is designed to be lightweight and flexible way for iPRES delegates to connect and exchange expertise from across the digital preservation and web archiving communities. We ask mentors and mentees to meet at least once during the conference (over a coffee break or lunch is perfect!). We also encourage everyone to reach out before the conference starts.

You can sign up to participate in the mentoring program as part of the conference registration form, when registration opens on 3 June. The Attendee Experience Committee will match mentors and mentees based on areas of expertise and the preferences indicated by mentees.

Mentors commit to:

  • exchanging emails and/or scheduling at least one online call with their mentee prior to the conference to get acquainted.

  • connecting with their mentee early during the conference to offer a welcome, help with introductions, and share tips on navigating the event.

  • providing career guidance if requested, drawing from their own professional experience.

  • respecting confidentiality and conduct yourself professionally in all interactions, in line with our Code of Conduct.

Mentees commit to:

  • Responding promptly and stay engaged when contacted by your mentor.

  • Taking initiative by reaching out to your mentor if you haven’t heard from them, or contact the conference organizers for support.

  • respecting confidentiality and conduct yourself professionally in all interactions, in line with our Code of Conduct.

  • The Attendee Experience Committee will provide tips and starting questions for both parties to get started.

A special thanks to CLIR/DLF and the International Internet Preservation Consortium (IIPC) for inspiring this initiative — we’re excited to see the new connections made at iPRES this year!
