Attending iPRES 2025 is an invaluable opportunity to engage with communities and digital preservation voices in this part of the world.
We understand that many delegates will be travelling to Aotearoa New Zealand from other areas. As such, we are providing as many opportunities as possible for in-person participants to meet, connect, and build upon the iPRES 2025 experience.
Here are just some of the kindred events being planned in Wellington around the 2025 iPRES conference:
Dates: October 29-31, 2025
Location: Wellington, New Zealand/Online

Join Rosetta users from around the world for the 15th edition of the Rosetta Users Group Meeting, taking place October 29–31, 2025, in Wellington, New Zealand and online. This hybrid event is co-hosted by Archives New Zealand and the National Library of New Zealand. The Rosetta Users Group is a joint group of ELUNA and IGLEU.
This event is not just about networking; it's an opportunity to chart the course for the future of Rosetta, learn from other users, and share knowledge across the digital preservation world.
The Rosetta Users Group Meeting provides an opportunity for users to connect with the broader Rosetta community and engage directly with Ex Libris product management. Sessions throughout the three days will cover a wide range of topics, including current system use, product enhancements and roadmaps, and how the Rosetta Users Group supports its community. There is no fee to attend the Rosetta Users Group Meeting.

The NZPCC Forum offers a friendly environment of sharing and learning about all things related to cultural heritage imaging and digitisation in Aotearoa New Zealand. It's an opportunity for photographers from large and small organisations alike to come together and share their knowledge and experiences! As per previous years we will have a variety of presentations. You will get to hear directly from your colleagues and practitioners from across Aotearoa about their experiences and learnings. Please put forward a short talk or paper if you would like to share something from your mahi (work).

Join us in a whole day dedicated to digital preservation and share your own digital preservation stories through blog posts, social media posts, events and creative activities!

Pacific Regional Branch of the International Council on Archives (PARBICA) Bureau Meeting, ‘Demystifying Digital’
Dates: 7-8 November 2025
Location: Wellington, New Zealand (National Library of New Zealand and Ngā Taonga Sound and Vision)
This year, we come together to challenge the perception that the digital world is an impossible challenge for Pacific recordkeeping practitioners. PARBICA 21 - "Demystifying Digital: Empowering Pasifika Communities Through Digital Knowledge" is about breaking down barriers, making technology understandable, and sharing practical, accessible solutions tailored to the realities of our region, while also looking ahead to see what opportunities are on the horizon.
This theme reflects our shared commitment to empower Pacific archives, cultural institutions, and information professionals to engage confidently with digital tools, regardless of resources or infrastructure.
Through presentations, workshops, talanoa sessions (meaningful conversations), and regional case studies, PARBICA 2025 will explore:
How to start digital projects in low-resource environments
Simple, practical tools for digitisation, description, and access
Building the case for funding and support
Community engagement and advocacy for documentary heritage
Indigenous-led approaches to digital memory, sovereignty, and sustainability
This is also an opportunity to make/renew lasting connections with practitioners from a broad range of situations and experiences. From large and advanced organisations with cutting-edge set ups, to smaller operations working with very little and still making things work.
Join us in Wellington as we open up space to learn, connect, share, and lead. Let’s demystify the digital together one conversation, one case study, one action at a time. Visit the PARBICA website for more information.
